I am pleased to announce macgirlffx has become the third cash contributor to the WooHoo project. Her gift to all users is to unlock the disclosure triangle in the browser (Show Package Textures/Show Folder Contents). I will be mailing out V 2.17.3 shortly that includes the unlocked feature. Thanks macgirlffx.
I am very pleased to announce luws has become the projects second cash contributor. As a special gift I have given luws the choice of which feature to unlock. luws has chosen to unlock the bad files name list in the package tester. This is luws’s gift to all WooHoo users. Thank you luws for your faith and support of the WooHoo project.
I have sent out a updated copy to all, V2.17.2. If anyone did not get it please let me know.
Also see the new ‘Package Testing’ post and the ‘Quick Start’ page package testing section.

On July 26 my monitor blew up. I had a old monitor that I can use but the cable did not fit my G5. So I ordered an adapter from mac zone. It was supposed to be shipped overnight but it took them 8 days to get it to me. Anyway I’m back online and trying to find out from the beta tester if the last bug was fixed so I can get the demo to all who have requested it. MA

We have all but one bug worked out of V2.16 and the fix is being tested now. 2.17 is already to release once the bug fix is verified. So, be just a couple o’ more days. I was hoping to have it released on the one month anniversary of this web site, but it is more important to have a tested release. I’m sure you all understand.

Update 2.16 is finished and sent to the beta testers. Now working on 2.17. It will be the demo version for sure and only include the bug fixes spotted in 2.16 so it will not need to be tested too much.

The beta testers found a couple of bugs with V2.15. I am working on those and the fixes will be in V2.16. V2.16 will have a complete rewrite of the Smart Backup Tool. Putting the finishing touches on it now.
The Smart Backup Tool will have some cool new features as well as unicode support for folder and file names. The backup tool is a pretty complicated piece of software because modern file systems are basically unchanged from the 1960’s and there are so many places for errors and faults to creep in. Recovering from every possible error is complex. I am pretty satisfied that this tool will be rock solid (after the beta testers test it) as it should be because our precious neighborhoods are depending on it.
Although the software is complicated, the tool itself is very easy to learn and use.
I am planning on V2.17 to be the released demo version. It will include a couple of minor things and any bug fixes that the testers find with V2.16. So, if all goes well, I am hoping to release it to you all in about a week.
I don’t think I mentioned before that V2.15 includes a nifty sparkle tester for textures. All the creators can use this test to determine if your texture needs mipmaps or be all right with out it. If you can get by without mipmaps the package will be smaller and use less video memory when playing the game, which is always a good thing. The way it works is you zoom in and out of an image and if it sparkles you need mipmaps. The zoom function is the same as that used by the game, openGL, so it is a pretty good test of how the texture or mipmap set will look in the game.
Thanks for all the interest. Knowing that makes me want to get the demo out quicker.
Downloads don’t work yet. If you want a demo copy of WooHoo I’ll have to email it to you. See the download page for instructions.
smid and I are working on the site’s artwork and a download page. Already in place are sections to report bugs, request help, request a WooHoo copy and a wish list. If you have any suggestions for the new site you can post them in the wish list.
I am working on a new update for WooHoo that will include new features: package editor. The first editing function to import textures and save the edited file.
Work on the site is pretty slow at the moment. So, if anyone is good with PHP, MySQL and WordPress environment, we would welcome any tidbit of information that can be spared.
